I remember the days I used to have sleepovers with my girlfriends. We would choose one cozy room to spend the night, put on our pajamas and our pink fluffy slippers and chat all night about anything and everything over cookies and ice cream. It was one of my loveliest memories growing up. While we’re chatting away, we’d talk about various topics, mostly random. But one hot topic that would always keep coming up no matter what season of lives we were in would be: boys.

We’d talk about the flavor of our week, or our month. Back in those days, love came and went. We’d fall madly in love with one perfect smile one day only to find ourselves falling for another’s perfect lay-up the next day. We’d talk about how someone we just met made our heart beat faster or another one’s eyes made food no longer attractive. We’d talk about all kinds of nonsense, but between us, we know just what type of guys we specifically fall for.

Through the years, our knowledge shifts our perspectives and as we grow, courage filled our hearts to brave each new steps life takes us through. We become different people, we grew up. But that type of man that takes our breaths away will most likely remain the same. And that’s a great thing. I personally believe that we should marry our own type of man. It’s how we can continue to fall in love with the same person over and over again through the journey marriage will bring us. Know what you want, find that man, and marry him. Don’t settle for less. But don’t rush into it. Search your heart to know that you are in love with the man that he is and not just how he makes you feel. Be sure that you are in love with him and not just with the feeling of love.

I love looking at Patty and how she is such a cheerleader for her husband. Since the first time we met, when I assisted David on their pre-wedding session, I secretly wished that I could have the chance to photograph her one day. And like an answered prayer, I jumped for joy as her name appeared on my calendar for a beauty portrait session. She is a beauty and capturing her on camera was simply addictive. But it’s the love in her eyes every time she gazes at her husband is what makes it so memorable for me.
