I’m always excited to do pre-wedding shoots. It’s like a ground for new experience, to test out new concepts and basically just have fun! Every so often during the first concept meeting, we’d be asked about what’s the best concept for a couple and we’d always encourage them to relive their stories or to do something that is “so uniquely you”. Do what reminds you of how you first met or how you fell in love. Or do something that describes who you are as a couple. There are couples more mellow than dramatic, more crazy wacky than romantic, more dark and edgy than sweet. And everything leaves a room to work on. So define your relationship personalities and let’s do something that will bring you back to reliving those first sparks you first felt again and again. Just be who you are and let that shine through all your memories.
I had great fun shooting for Darwin and Melissa. They are not your typical lovey-dovey couple. Both are edgy in their own way. Seeing them reminds me of the intense couples in mysteries, packed full of action and high-powered surprises. But they’ve got an aura of drama and intimacy between them which was a fun challenge to try to capture. All in all, I’ve got to say that I really like how these turned out.
