Chef Gusteau from Ratatouille says it best "Anyone can cook", and I believe it. I've watched the movie a dozen times with my son Axel, each time it never fail to bring a smile to my face. It doesn't take a degree or culinary school for one to be able to cook. Cooking has to come from the heart. It's a matter of experimenting, combining flavors to suit your taste. There's no right or wrong in cooking, so many different style or techniques to cook a dish.
Nowadays I find the art of cooking is lost in the busyness of everyday life. Other than the lack of time, i think the real hinderance to cooking is the fear of failure. We're just afraid that it won't turn out good. But if you don't try it (not to mention practice it), how would you know the result? Give it a shot. Have fun at it. You might just surprise yourself with your new favorite dish :)
This short video was taken a few months ago by the coolest videographer in town, Yosep Sugiarto. We were shooting for the interactive edition of Bazaar Magazine. I was featured as "Chef•tographer", a cathcy term the editor came up with to describe a Chef & Photographer. It's the behind the scene shopping in the supermarket and preparing a dinner for friends.
If you like it...we'll do more cooking videos in the future :)
