When I first heard that David & Vivi wanted to shoot their pre-wedding photo in Samarinda, I thought they were joking. Apparently the idea of shooting in their work place made this photo one of a kind. Who would have thought of shooting in mining area with heavy machinery? Not me, not in my wildest dream.
So the X factor for every pre-wedding photo is always the couple. It's always their story, their interaction, their preferences that creates one of a kind portraits. I'm just lucky to have met David & Vivi who challenged me to shoot something out of the ordinary. Or was it their plan to promote their company in our blog? Ha ha...i'm sure that's not it. Their company ranges from palm oil plantation, land clearing, infrastructure projects, heavy equipment rental, mining and many more. My impression of someone who works in those field, must have been a tough guy, strong built, just like those we see in jeans ad. Yes on the outside David is tough guy, but inside he's soft like a jelly, especially to Vivi. I'm impressed how much he cares for her, the little details he does to make her happy. He knows when she's happy, he's happy too.
As i'm shooting for couples, i can't help but observe how they interact. Vivi has been super understanding and supportive of David, no matter how dirty and rough his job is, she's always there for him. Did their years of friendship before dating each other help their relationship today? Or was it something in their heart that say 'no matter what, I will love you and be there for you'? Whichever it was, I'm blessed to get to know this loving couple.
It's a memorable photo session to say the least. Standing in the scorching sun, out in the middle of no where surely made this top of my most interesting photo trip. Big thanks to Meli & Yosep who made this trip a blast. Also to Lisa Luvaze for the make up, and bearing with the heat. We should do this again soon :)
