Nina and Chris are one of the most giving and selfless couple that I have ever met. Their story is one that will forever captivate my heart.
They went through some challenging hurdles in their engagement period. Chris found out that his dad was suffering from cancer and decided to move back to Portland to care for him, while Nina stayed in Seattle. Not only do they face the challenges of long distance relationship and wedding planning, both of them work in the hospital industry where long hours and abnormal shifts are the norm. Being able to reach the other person on the phone itself becomes a feat. And when Chris’ dad got worse, they decided to postpone the wedding day altogether so that they can dedicate their fullest attention to him, minus the distractions of planning a wedding.
They say that all good things come to those who wait. I cannot agree with it more. During that time frame, Chris’ dad went through chemo and his health began to improve.
Meanwhile, Chris and Nina also had their love and faith tested. They persevered through it all and came out stronger. So I was ecstatic when I heard that they are going to move on with their wedding. They have been selfless all these while in their decision making, and God sees and honors that.
Their wedding is filled with joy and celebration. And sitting proudly right there in the front row, Chris’ dad smiled and shed a tear.
